Aging and Enduring Sexuality
With Ann McQueen, PhD Candidate in Gerontology
Tuesday, January 11, 2011
From birth to death, we are all sexual beings. So why do we hesitate to talk about sex, especially when it involves older people? In an engaging and informative way, we’ll examine – and debunk – some of the common myths about sexuality and aging using information from current research. Along the way, we’ll challenge outdated attitudes and encourage both men and women to re-envision their sexuality in later life.
Ann McQueen has spent 10 years working with older adults in long-term care communities and senior centers and is a PhD Candidate in Gerontology at Portland State University. Her dissertation work explores the ways in which social interactions, especially those involving humor, impact the health of older adults in assisted living.
