Yom Hazikaron- Israeli Memorial Day
Yom Ha’atzmaut – Israel Independence Day
Israel’s Independence Day celebrates the formal establishment of the State of Israel, when members of the provisional government read and signed a Declaration of Independence in Tel Aviv.
Yom Ha’atzmaut in Israel is always preceded by Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day for fallen soldiers. Linking these two days is clear: Israelis owe their independence – the very existence of their country – to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for their cause.
The Israeli flag will be displayed in the main lobby of Rose Schnitzer Manor on Wednesday, May 2. We welcome you to gather around the flag at 1:00 PM and join in singing Hatikvah – Israel’s national anthem.
