At the end of WWII, hard hitting plays like “Home of the Brave” and Academy Award winning movies like “Crossfire” and “Gentleman’s Agreement” shined a spotlight on antisemitism in America. But that focus softened and by the early 1950’s, the Goldbergs were America’s favorite neighbors, featured in that new medium called television.
Join us Monday, July 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Zidell Hall as Ron Silver, retired Assistant U.S. Attorney – and a man who knows first-hand about religious and racial bigotry in America, offers a multimedia exploration of this cultural shift.
Mr. Silver practiced law for 39 years. Before his 2015 retirement, Ron handled Civil Rights matters for the U.S. Department of Justice for close to 30 years and has lectured on civil rights topics throughout the country. He’s served on the Adult Education Committee at Congregation Beth Israel for many years and every year creates a lecture that interweaves the Jewish experience and civil rights. He regularly lectures on civil rights issues for Bar Associations throughout the Northwest.
